How to Design a Website That Feels Like You

Your website isn’t just a container for your content — it’s a reflection of your work, your values, and your voice. When a website truly feels like you, your audience can sense it. There's an ease, a clarity, and a natural invitation to connect.

Here’s how to design a website that feels grounded, intentional, and authentic to you:

1. Start with your message, not your layout.
Before you choose a template or pick your colors, get clear on what you’re here to say. What’s your core message? Who do you serve? Your design should support that message, not distract from it.

2. Choose a visual tone that mirrors your energy.
If your work is calming, nourishing, or reflective — lean into whitespace, soft color palettes, and gentle movement. If you’re more bold or expressive, let contrast and typography speak. Your brand aesthetic should reflect how it feels to work with you.

Your design should support that message, not distract from it.

3. Keep the structure simple.
Your audience wants clarity, not complexity. Stick to a clean navigation menu (no more than 5–6 items), and design each page to guide your visitor toward a next step.

4. Use your own voice.
Skip the buzzwords and default Squarespace text. Speak like you would in conversation — warm, direct, human. That’s what builds trust.

5. Remember: alignment over perfection.
A “perfect” website isn’t the goal — a real one is. One that matches where you are, holds space for your work, and evolves as you do.
